Working with a heritage, science-focused brand to raise awareness and funds for important causes.

First licensed in 1394, The Salters’ Company traces its origins to the medieval salt trade in London. As one of the Great 12 Livery Companies, it plays a crucial role in preserving history, upholding traditions, supporting charitable causes, and shaping the future of the City of London.

The Salters’ Company is a diverse organisation, responsible for several charitable foundations and philanthropic initiatives, particularly in science education. It also nurtures a strong sense of fellowship among its members. Their fundraising team approached us to design a suite of printed and digital resources and publications, to engage members and encourage donations or legacy gifts in Wills.

Connecting Salters’ emphasis on chemistry with its charitable work, we developed the overarching concept, ‘Charitable giving is in our DNA’. This idea became the foundation for brochures, fundraising campaigns, social media, and member communications. Legacy-specific communications also used the language of ‘Bond with Future Generations’, making the connection between chemical bonds and the long-term impact that Legacies bring to charities and those that the charities benefit.

The project resulted in a significant increase in charitable gifts and heightened awareness of the organisation’s efforts to inspire young people in to science and provide relief to socially disadvantaged communities. In addition, the Legacy work was a finalist in two categories of the 2025 Smee & Ford Legacy Giving Awards. These were ‘Best Start-up Legacy Campaign’ and ‘Best Creative Partner to the Legacy Sector’.

We say:

It’s not every day you get to work with a client with over 600 years of history! It was an interesting challenge to take a heritage brand that, while steeped in tradition, needed to resonate with a contemporary audience. Our approach combined respect for Salters’ legacy with a modern style and compelling messaging, ensuring its continued relevance. It was also an honour that our work for Salters’ was a finalist in two categories of the prestigious 2025 Smee & Ford Legacy Giving Awards as ‘Best Start-up Legacy Campaign’ and ‘Best Creative Partner to the Legacy Sector’ .

Let’s grow something brilliant
