About the project
Brighter Together – The Mascot Massive Chanukah Film is a first-of-its-kind seasonal advert created especially for the UK Jewish community. Every year we see the big-brand, big-budget Christmas ads that fill our screens with festive storytelling, but until now there has never been a cinematic, heart-warming equivalent for Chanukah. This project set out to change that – with a joyful, somewhat absurd, uplifting and completely no-budget film dedicated to spreading light, warmth and a sense of positivity.
It brings together six much-loved Jewish charity mascots alongside more than 30 charities, organisations and community names, all appearing in playful cameo moments. How many can you spot?
The spirit of the project mirrors the spirit of Chanukah: unity, resilience and the power of coming together, especially during darker and more uncertain times.
At its heart, this is a communal effort grounded in goodwill. No charity or partner paid to participate, and there is no fundraising ask or commercial purpose. It was simply created to give something positive back to the community – a shared moment of connection and joy that people might want to watch (possibly numerous times), share and smile at. The collaborations within the story, where mascots help one another on their way, reflect the real collaborations behind the scenes that made the film possible.
This project is a love letter to our community: a bright, heart-warming reminder that even in the most challenging moments, we are stronger – and brighter – together.
About the creators
CC Comms and Moviebytes (Lauren Kayser)
The film was conceived, written and directed by Adam Selwyn and the team at CC Comms in partnership with cinematographer and editor Lauren Kayser. Everyone involved worked on an entirely pro bono basis.
